Today I’m sharing a simple and pretty easy arrangement using green and yellow faux flowers. I really love bright, vibrant colors for the summer but the colors in this arrangement are a bit on the more subtle side with the different shades of green and yellow mixed in.
I have the lime green flowers combined with my smaller light yellow flowers then I added a very bright yellow ribbon to my vase over a Lacey burlap and a kind of army green ribbon that I had actually picked up for spring but have still been making use of now for the summer.
I hope you enjoy this simple summer arrangement!
Green and Yellow Faux Floral Summer Arrangement
I started with a skinny cylinder vase and wired green ribbon.
Using a glue gun, I wrapped two layers of my green ribbon to the vase to create a large band of ribbon for my vase.
Then I took this burlap ribbon with lace and hot glued it over the center of the two strands of green ribbon.
Now a yellow ribbon goes over the lace burlap.
Each layer of ribbon is hot glued around the back but in this next step I’m using a toothpick to add a very small amount of my hot glue under the burlap to keep it from moving around.
You can skip this step if you want. It’s just a little extra glue to keep things perfectly in place.
Lastly, I’m adding a small white bow over everything.
Now the flowers …
(oh happy day, oh happy day, oh happy day. Don’t mind me, I just really love flowers)
I’ll be using one stem of these lime green flowers…
and one stem of light yellow smaller flowers.
Here’s just a closer look of the flowers that I’m working with 🙂
So pretty!
(FYI: Both stems of flowers came from Michael’s Craft Store)
and here is the finished arrangement!
I just cut my stems to a good size for the vase and then stretched everything out here and there to shape my arrangement.
I hope you enjoyed this simple faux floral green and yellow summer arrangement 💙
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
I can use flowers all year round to decorate my home but what better time than spring to truly enjoy beautiful floral decorations all around the house!
Hello friends. Today I’m sharing all of my spring home decor with you along with a few really simple crafts. Most of these pieces can easily be recreated with items you probably already have at home or a trip to your local dollar store, which is where I usually find a lot of my items.
Hope you enjoy these spring decorations!
Spring Crafts and Home Decor Ideas
For my small kitchen table I’m using faux white tulips and blue hyacinths in a long cylinder vase filled with pink grass/basket filling.
This centerpiece honestly came together very quickly and easily. After filling my vase with the pink filling I went ahead and evenly distributed my flowers all through out the vase leaving a few of my tulips wide opened, just because I love the way they look stretched open.
Here I have a mix of pink, yellow and purple faux flowers…
that come together and create another beautiful spring centerpiece.
This is another arrangement that came together fairly easy despite all the different flowers that I used. I added in my flowers one at a time to my vase, turning the vase as I went to make sure the flowers looked good all around. I also bent a few stems here and there around the bottom of the arrangement so that they were facing down.
I love using pinks, greens and yellows for spring but for this next centerpiece I included some peach colored roses for something a little different. The soft peach really ended up matching nicely with the bright yellow from my other faux flowers. You can click here to see a step by step guide for this centerpiece.
I love using this area in my kitchen for seasonal decorations. It’s kind of a “catch all” area where I can display some items that I may not be able to display anywhere else.
The decorations here are pretty simple. A few scattered Easter eggs displayed in differed containers like a small bowl, a glass, and a pretty vase.
And this is the lower section of the hutch where I used three turquoise cups filled with a couple of faux flowers.
Both me and my eight year old daughter can’t get enough of cute little chicks any time of the year, so this next one is truly a favorite for both me and her.
A few tiny chicks and a small basket looks so sweet by our living room window as they sit on a bed of shredded green construction paper! Yes, if you have a shredder and some construction paper you can make your own grass or what I would better refer to as DIY confetti.
I filled my small basket first with brown paper (the stuff that comes in delivery boxes) then I shredded some light green construction paper to give my precious little “twin” newborn chicks a bed to rest on.
Too cute!
A wooden bunny embellished with some handmade mesh bows and surrounded by Easter eggs on a white plate.
The bows are held in place with sticky dots but hot glue would work here too. One thing to keep in mind here is that the wooden bunny would be much sturdier if I would have glued it on to my plate but I wanted to keep it simple and quick so mine is not glued on.
I found this large Easter egg wall decoration at my local dollar store probably last year and decided to use it again this year. It’s embellished with a large burlap bow and some faux flowers that I went ahead and hot glued in place.
FYI: when I hot glue flowers on to flat surfaces, I find that it works best when I cut off as much of the stem as I can so that the flowers glue on nicely.
Paper cone trees for spring? Why not!
I’ve seen these cone trees a lot on Pinterest and have been wanting to give them a try for some time now.
I finally got around to trying them and honestly it took some time learning to roll the paper into its cone shape but once I got it they were pretty easy.
I just used a sheet of construction paper, rolled it into a cone shape, allowing it to flare out around the bottom (the part that would be the bottom of the tree) and once the paper had its cone shape I cut off some the bottom part to level it out and make sure that it could stand up on my table.
Phew! That’s one serious run on sentence…
Lastly I used some scotch tape to hold it in place.
To decorate my cone trees, I hot glued on some beaded chains and bows then topped them off with faux flowers.
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
Let me share with you a small red and white arrangement that I recently put together.
You can place it on an end table, nightstand or any other area in your home that’s asking for some holiday cheer!
Most of the items that I am using are things that I already had but you can substitute any of these items with things you may already have at home or similar items at craft stores and your local dollar store.
Small Red and White Christmas Arrangement
Supplies:
A few white faux flowers, all from my local dollar store and eucalyptus leaves from Walmart.
A few decorative Christmas picks…
(FYI: My candy cane pick was not long enough for my arrangement so I just taped on a straw to get the length that I needed)
White polka dot ribbon from the Dollar Tree and red ribbon from the Container Store (both purchased a couple of years ago).
One large rhinestone, small red rhinestones, and strips of teeny tiny rhinestones 🙂 all from the dollar store.
As for my container, I’ll be using a recycled can (so fancy)
Before getting started, I wanted to see how my large white flower would look with some glitter so I decided to go for it and added some silver and iridescent white glitter by “painting” on some inexpensive glue and then sprinkling on my glitter little by little. This did take a few coats to get it to look the way I wanted and it was a little time consuming but the results were beautiful.
For the can, I wrapped both of my ribbons, the red over the white polka dot ribbon and secured them around the back. I used these dots to attach my ribbon but hot glue would work here too.
I also added all of my rhinestones, as you see below.
The small rhinestone strips and large rhinestone are all self adhesive so those were pretty easy to attach but the small red stones are not adhesive (no sticky backing) so I used a toothpick and hot glue to carefully attach them all one by one (my poor fingers) This was a tricky step because aside from trying to not burn my fingers I also had to kind of map them out first before gluing them on so that they were evenly spaced out. It took some patience as well as being ok with it not being perfect but at the end I was happy with the way it came out.
FYI: I didn’t add my rhinestones until after photographing the way I placed my flowers, in case you notice that they are missing in the next step 🙂
I placed my large white flower off to one side and the smaller white flowers all off to the other side…
Then I added in my leaves behind the smaller white flowers and the rest of the picks mixed into the smaller white flowers.
Move your flowers around if needed and that is it.
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
Create a floral arrangement with sunflowers and you have a beautiful centerpiece for fall, spring, summer, or anytime of the year.
I found these pretty and very affordable faux sunflowers at Walmart a couple of months ago and brought them home along with a couple of stems of eucalyptus leaves and figured I could make a centerpiece that would work for summer and all the way into fall with no problem at all!
FYI: I have one pick with 5 sunflowers and two eucalyptus leaf picks but I only ended up using a few of my flowers and leaves, as you will see below.
It took me a number of tries before getting my flowers to look nice in the jar. I’m no expert at floral arranging, so even simple centerpieces can sometimes take a lot of effort. I tried arranging my flowers and eucalyptus leaves without first cutting them down, thinking that would work nicely since I’ve done that many times before with beautiful results but it was such a fail this time around. I had to cut them down and really pay close attention to how the height of my flowers and jar were working together. I was also trying to fit them all into the mason jar but really only needed one stem of leaves and four flowers to look pretty.
Now that I got that out of the way let’s continue 🙂
I started by cutting my faux flowers with a wire cutter.
As for the eucalyptus leaves, I cut those down as well and only used 4 stems out of the two picks that I picked up.
I first added in my sunflowers…
Then as you can see below I placed my eucalyptus leaves all down the very center of my flowers, from left to right. Basically, there’s two sunflowers facing the front of the centerpiece and two facing the back.
I moved the flowers and leaves around slightly here and there until I got it looking good and that was it.
A simple sunflower centerpiece that I think could work for anytime of the year, but especially now in the late summer and going into the beautiful upcoming fall season.
Ok, that’s it for this one. I hope you give it a try for your home as well!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
What better time of year than Spring to decorate your home with flowers. Mix in a few (or a ton) of colorful Easter eggs and you’re ready to welcome Spring into your home! Yay.
If you have a green thumb then you are probably lucky enough to use real flowers this time of year. I’m far from having a green thumb as I’ve mentioned before. So it’s usually all faux flowers for me. Thankfully, I really enjoy faux flowers. They’ve become a slight addiction of mine, hehe… So I’ve got a bunch of faux flowers all around my home now that Spring is kicking in. Probably too much honestly but I can’t help it sometimes.
Now that the season of Lent is finishing up I’ve started shifting over to slowly enjoying all the beautiful things Spring has to offer and started bringing out all of my Spring decorating supplies. When it comes to decorating and crafting I always make use of many of the things I already own and todays collection is no exception. So if you’ve been here before you may have already seen many of the items I’m using here. It’s so fun going out to shop for new things and see what’s out and new but I can’t help but make use of what I already have too, even if it’s stuff I’ve used over and over again. 🙂
Spring Decorations – Faux Florals and Easter Eggs
For this first one I’m using a small fishbowl vase filled with colorful Easter eggs, and pink and white flowers.
I used a floral tape grid to help my flowers stay in place. I always find it difficult to keep flowers from moving around in a round vase but this grid makes all the difference!
I simply scattered my flowers, starting with the white flowers and moved them around until I got them to look like this…
Next, blue faux flowers (hyacinths and a couple of daisies)…
Most of the flowers here are hyacinths but I added in a couple of wildflower daisies that, if you look closely, I “embellished” with a few sprigs of tiny greenery to give them a little something extra .
Green and white Easter eggs and a few faux limes fill two cylinder vases.
As for the yellow bow here, I used adhesive dots to attach my bow together to the strand of ribbon around the vases. Hot glue is fine too but I always try to not use my hot glue whenever possible. I’m really impatient when it comes to waiting for it to heat up 🙂
My “shoe lace” bow easily took its shape because of the ribbon that I’m using which is a wired ribbon that I found a few years ago at the Container Store.
It may be difficult to see the sticky dot but its placed right behind the center of my bow to keep it in place and FYI, these dots are kind of big so I usually cut them down for sticking on small items like this bow.
Lastly, a simple White and purple tulip arrangement.
I started with my white tulips…
Then I took a few of the tulips and stretched out the petals for a bloomed look.
If you notice, I added one open tulip on either side of my arrangement, the one on the left side pointing up and the one on your right side facing down. This helped give the arrangement some shape and more of a natural look.
Lastly I added a few shimmery purple faux tulips.
(Everything used in this blog post are things I already had with the exception of these purple tulips that I picked up about a month ago at Michaels Craft Store)
That’s it for this one. Hope you enjoyed it and are inspired to bring a little Spring love into your home too!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
Simple Floral Arrangement – A Fern and Purple Statice
Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a very simple floral arrangement that I brought together on Valentine’s Day. It truly is very simple in my opinion. It consists of one green stem and one stem of tiny clustered purple flowers! I’m honestly not sure if I should even call it a floral arrangement but hey, I’m going with that for now I guess 🙂
So my husband bought me and my daughter 2 small bouquets for Valentine’s Day. They were both very pretty, but I’ve realized something…I never really like all of the greenery that many times comes in floral bouquets. Especially the fern. (I disliked it so much that I had to write that in bold, lol) Don’t get me wrong, I love many greens and fillers used in arrangements but not so much the fern.
Does that ever happen to you, someone gives you flowers and you can’t bring yourself to completely loving it?
But anyway, it never quite looks beautiful, for me atleast, and kind of takes away from the rest of the flowers in the bunch. I’m always tempted to just take it right out of the arrangement but then I would feel horrible not doing anything with it or dare I say throw it out! Gasp!! no, no, no.
I love flowers way too much to do that.
Since I don’t always love the entire bouquet I’ve started taking them apart whenever I receive flowers and making a few different arrangements in multiple vases. (Yay for more flowers around the house) And you know what? Now I’m loving the fern.
If you’ve visited my blog before you may already know that I don’t decorate much with real flowers. Sadly I just don’t have the green thumb for them so it’s almost always faux for me. But because of a few special days (Valentine’s and Mother’s day, thank you hubby) I’m lucky enough to enjoy real flowers in my home for at least a couple of weeks.
Simple Floral Arrangement – A Fern and Purple Statice
For my arrangement I’m using one leather leaf fern and a purple statice stem.
I placed the fern into my vase, laying it off to one side.
If you read the first part of this blog post then you know that I wasn’t a fan of ferns, but this arrangement has really changed my mind about that. I’m amazed with its size and beautiful almost triangle shape or even Christmas tree shape to it.
My purple flower, named purple statice, (trust me, I had to search for that name) has small clusters of tiny flowers. They have a pretty tough stem that kept it upright but I went ahead and tucked it in between the little branches of my fern to help it stay upright even more because I thought that it just looked so so pretty and interesting in that position.
And that’s it for this very simple floral arrangement.
I’ve been able to enjoy my flowers for over two weeks now with minimal maintenance at all. I’ve changed the water maybe three times and the beautiful green and purple shades have kept very well.
I hope this motivates you to play around with floral bouquets and see what you can come up with the next time someone gives you flowers too!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
Hello friends! Soon summer will be coming to an end, but I didn’t want the summer to finish without sharing some of the things I’ve been up to throughout the season.
I have to admit, I’m starting to feel oh so sad about the fact that soon I’ll have to take down all of my summer decorations. Boohoo..
I really, really don’t like taking any of my decorations down once we’re done with any season honestly. I enjoy bringing them all together and keeping them out for as long as possible. So it’s kind of nice sharing them with you before going into fall and having to take them all down.
I decided to call this a “lookbook” because I know that at this point (late in August) we’re probably not thinking much about making new summer decorations. But of course many of these ideas can also be used for fall decorations by switching out the items to things like pumpkins, sunflowers, or any other fall flowers, gingham ribbons, or leaves, to mention a few fall goodies.
My Simple Summer Home Decor “Lookbook”
It’s funny that I mentioned that I love to keep things out for as long as possible because I actually shared this vase in my last blog post and surprisingly I was ready to take it apart after I was done. I did however have it out for close to two months so I guess I had plenty of time to enjoy it!
I simply replaced the yellow and white flowers with just a few smaller orange faux flowers and these tiny almost mustard yellow flowers. Precious!
For this next one I took a felt pineapple coaster that I got last year from the Dollar Tree and decided to frame it with a very inexpensive black Ikea frame and a few wooden crafting stars.
I then placed adhesive rhinestones over the framed pineapple and wooden stars. I placed them on top because they are slightly large and wouldn’t have fit under the clear part of the frame.
I finished with a large handmade bow that I attached with these sticky removable dots so as to not ruin the frame. I saw these dots on “do it on a dime” and I’ve been playing around with them since I got them. So far I like them, but a glue gun would work too.
A couple of flowers pulled off their stem and placed in a tiny glass with small rocks.
Here I’m reusing a round glass votive that I embellished last year with beads and twine. I kept this really really simple by filling it with a few wooden beads and a string of iridescent beads.
I don’t know why honestly, but the combination of wooden beads and the iridescent beads made me think of the beach when I first put this together!
Now I’m using an old soap dispenser to hold a couple of yellow faux flowers…I really love these flowers. I’ve used them over and over again and I think it’s starting to show because they are looking a bit worn but it’s not bothering me. I still love them, as well as the green leaves accompanying them 🙂
Anything with rocks seemed very summery to me this year! I say this year because who knows what I’ll think next summer.
A few beautiful rocks from the dollar store mixed in with just a few gold, mint and blue-ish marbled beads surround the base of a candle and rest on a cute little white appetizer dish. I never serve appetizers before our usual rice and beans dinner, so it only made sense when I found this dish in a random discount store last year that I had to buy it…for decorating that is.
oh how I love this next one!
A long vase filled with a layer of small white rocks, flat glass marbles, large gray rocks, and topped with a string of tiny little pearls…accompanied by a bouquet of faux pink lilies.
I can stare at these flat marbles all day.
I have a funny habit of always bringing home plastic cups when I’m out and pick up iced coffee or any other drink that comes in a clear disposable container. You know, the ones that come with a lid and make a yummy appearance everywhere once the warm weather kicks in.
I usually just use them for a few days to drink water around the house then toss them but this time around I couldn’t help but to use one for decorating.
I filled my plastic cup with small white rocks, the same rocks I used for my pink lily arrangement, and placed a stem of greenery down the center.
Surprisingly those few rocks are able to hold my stem up but if u give this one a try I would suggest using a lot more rocks because I’m finding myself needing to straighten my greenery every so often because it starts dropping to the side (face/palm moment)
On many occasions my daughter will sit with me as I’m going through my faux flowers or other crafting supplies and loves to create her own little decorations. These next two are something she put together that I thought were so so pretty and decided to leave it out by our living room window.
She dropped a few faux flowers that she removed from their stem into a mason jar and then placed the lid on it. Then she took a few loose white and turquoise flowers and connected them all to create her own flower and put that on top of a mason jar lid.
ok friends, that’s it for this one. I hope you enjoyed everything and have had an amazing summer!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
And I have an easy, simple, and very pretty summer centerpiece…that for some funny reason, kind of reminds me of a pineapple 🙂
Faux Yellow Hydrangea Summer Centerpiece
For my centerpiece, I am using one large yellow hydrangea, three small white peonies, one extra white faux flower, and a small teal vase.
(vase from Ikea, hydrangea from Michaels, white flowers from random Dollar stores)
(yellow hydrangea also used for this centerpiece and this one)
I started by bending the stem of my hydrangea to match the height of my vase…
I placed my flower down into the vase so she sits perfectly snug in my vase…
I then scattered my white flowers throughout the hydrangea.
By scattered I mean I poked and pushed my flowers through the pretty little flowers forming my hydrangea and then moved them around a million times before getting them into the perfect spot 🙂
and she’s done.
I’m not sure why I’m referring to my centerpiece as a she but for some reason it sounds right, so I’m sticking with that.
I paired my centerpiece with a pretty floral lace placemat that I found at my local dollar store. It has a bit of an “old school” look to it if you know what I mean, but I really loved it and it was a nice match to my centerpiece.
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
I came across a faux floral arrangement while shopping a couple of months ago that really caught my eye. It was filled with lemons, beautiful greenery and had black and white ribbon. It was an appropriate summer home décor for sure!
I really wanted to purchase it buuuuut, I already have so so many faux flowers at home (a slight obsession of mine) that I knew I’d be better off leaving it right there. I think I may have heard it say “wait wait take me home with you” as I walked away!
But I left it there and came home with lemon-y inspiration instead 🙂
I figured I could make something similar with what I already had at home and long story short, this is how that went…
I remembered that I had a few green limes that I had used for spring decorations a couple of years ago and so I thought, maybe I could paint them yellow so they look like lemons instead. But I didn’t have yellow paint and probably wouldn’t have had time for that anyway. So that never happened.
Later on I thought, can I use yellow Easter eggs in place of lemons? Then I came back to my senses and said that wasn’t going to work ☺️ (although I’m sure someone out in the crafting world can pull it off)…
After going back and forth with a few ideas I have to admit, the temptation to just order lemons on Amazon was getting well uh…tempting.
But I’m glad I didn’t because eventually I ended up putting this beautiful arrangement together and was really happy with it. There are no lemons here but I ended up simply focusing on the colors of the arrangement instead of trying to replicate the same centerpiece that caught my eye.
Lemons truly are perfect for summer decorations, and of course lemonade if we’re talking about real lemons of course, unless you are like me and get heartburn just thinking of lemonade (tears and more tears.) Surprisingly, I shared this iced tea recipe a few years ago that included lemons! Thinking back, I have no idea how I was drinking that without a side of pepto 😐
I’m pretty sure eventually I will end up buying a bunch of faux lemons of my own but for now this centerpiece works just fine for me!
(Pear juice, in case you were wondering, Goya brand. I know, the flavor and brand have nothing to do with all of this, unless you can’t find a similar bottle, and end up having to go out searching for this exact bottle, then this information would come in handy. This is in no way sponsored, if it were a long run on sentence probably wouldn’t be ok here)
I started by wrapping three strands of ribbon around the bottle, tying a knot twice around the front to secure then making a simple bow.
FYI: Because the bows are facing one side of the bottle, this arrangement would work best at a corner or against a wall. This honestly doesn’t bother me though. I’ve made many centerpieces with ribbon tied to one side and usually place it anywhere even if the “back” part is visible.
The placement of my flowers is very easy. I started with the yellow flowers, placing them right down the center…
my eucalyptus bunch off to one side…
and lastly, a couple of loose sprigs off to the other side…
Once all of my florals are in I then moved them around a bit until it looked the way I wanted and then gently pushed them down into my bottle just to make sure they stayed in place and that’s it.
A very simple and easy summer floral centerpiece.
Well that’s it for this one friends!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
So I started a little late this year decorating for spring. I really wanted to shift my focus a bit towards Lent but, slowly but surely for the last couple of weeks I’ve started bringing out all of our spring decorations, yay. I couldn’t resist all the cute chicks, bunnies and eggs that show up this time of year anymore….I just couldn’t!
I had picked up a few decorative plush carrots at the dollar store about a month ago that I had on my kitchen table along with a few other things but they were starting to look a little boring. I knew I could put them to better “decorating” use.
I ended up combing them with a few things I already had, including some faux florals that I’ve shared at least a couple of times before here and came up with a very pretty centerpiece for my small kitchen table.
I love giving credit where credit is due! I’m kind of obsessed with watching QVC, and it’s kind of nice because I’ve found a lot of inspiration from watching them. This centerpiece came together with them in mind.
During one of the cooking shows a few weeks ago they had an arrangement of real carrots standing in a vase with baby’s breath right down the middle of the carrots. The carrots still had there green tops attached giving the arrangement a very natural or organic appearance to it. The white baby’s breath were spilling all over the sides and looked a little messy but it was gorgeous! You know, the “effortless” and kind of messy look that just seems to work sometimes!
It was perfection in my opinion 🙂
Easy Kitchen Spring Centerpiece
I worked with a single bunch of faux floral daisies that had a mix of blue, white and yellow shades (you can see the flowers here)…
Just like the centerpiece that inspired this arrangement, I placed my florals down the center of three plush/plaid carrots in a long vase.
A mix of glittery, solid, and printed small and large Easter eggs at the base of my vase.
So pretty!
And that’s it for this one! Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my blog.
(Flowers used are from Walmart and also used in this blog post as well as this one)
