Create a floral arrangement with sunflowers and you have a beautiful centerpiece for fall, spring, summer, or anytime of the year.
I found these pretty and very affordable faux sunflowers at Walmart a couple of months ago and brought them home along with a couple of stems of eucalyptus leaves and figured I could make a centerpiece that would work for summer and all the way into fall with no problem at all!
FYI: I have one pick with 5 sunflowers and two eucalyptus leaf picks but I only ended up using a few of my flowers and leaves, as you will see below.
It took me a number of tries before getting my flowers to look nice in the jar. I’m no expert at floral arranging, so even simple centerpieces can sometimes take a lot of effort. I tried arranging my flowers and eucalyptus leaves without first cutting them down, thinking that would work nicely since I’ve done that many times before with beautiful results but it was such a fail this time around. I had to cut them down and really pay close attention to how the height of my flowers and jar were working together. I was also trying to fit them all into the mason jar but really only needed one stem of leaves and four flowers to look pretty.
Now that I got that out of the way let’s continue 🙂
I started by cutting my faux flowers with a wire cutter.
As for the eucalyptus leaves, I cut those down as well and only used 4 stems out of the two picks that I picked up.
I first added in my sunflowers…
Then as you can see below I placed my eucalyptus leaves all down the very center of my flowers, from left to right. Basically, there’s two sunflowers facing the front of the centerpiece and two facing the back.
I moved the flowers and leaves around slightly here and there until I got it looking good and that was it.
A simple sunflower centerpiece that I think could work for anytime of the year, but especially now in the late summer and going into the beautiful upcoming fall season.
Ok, that’s it for this one. I hope you give it a try for your home as well!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
Hello friends! Summer is almost over, but before we get started with all the fall crafts and decorations I wanted to share what I’ve been up to as for summer decorating around my house.
Now of course I know it’s a little late in the season to share step by step DIY’s for summer decorations so I decided that a “lookbook” would probably make more sense for those of you that are still interested in anything summer related. I have to say, I’m still trying to enjoy what’s left of summer and even find myself still working on summer related decorations.
Are you in the same boat as me? Or are you ready to say goodbye to the summer and start pulling out your pumpkins and acorns?
I’ve shared a few of what I call a lookbook here on the blog for the last couple of years now. The word lookbook may sound a little funny since this is not a true book but when I think of a lookbook, I think of a lot of inspirational photos with little writing. Basically something that someone can look through for ideas, inspiration or even just for fun. So that’s kind of the idea that I worked with while making this blog post, something you can hopefully enjoy and be inspired by!
Ok, I hope you enjoy this collection of summer home decorations!
Summer Home Decorations DIY “Lookbook”
Here is a simple table decoration that anyone can easily bring together.
This came together with a few items that can easily be replaced with other similar supplies.
I started with turquoise ribbon from the Dollar Tree, brown packing paper, and white tissue paper.
Then I also have a vase from Walmart and a yellow faux flower for this arrangement.
All I did here is layer my turquoise ribbon, brown paper and white tissue paper in my vase.
FYI: The brown paper is what sometimes comes in delivery boxes. I love saving that paper whenever possible! It’s great to use around the house, great for crafting, and sometimes even for last minute gift wrapping or as a basket filler.
Then I removed the yellow flowers stem and leaves and placed it on top of the white paper for a simple but fun and bright decoration.
Don’t like the paper and ribbon look? Try layers of rocks, marbles or even wooden beads for a similar look.
There’s something about rocks and marbles that really work for me in the summer. I love using them in vases layered with other rocks and marbles of different colors and sizes. It gives everything a pretty beachy look!
Here I used small rocks and marbles mixed together just in the lower part of my vase and then wrapped burlap pink ribbon and twine around my vase.
(Amber votives are from Ikea.)
I filled my (very, very tall) vase with faux pink lilies that I also used last summer on this table. Large faux flowers like this, all on one stem, make it so easy to create centerpieces. You can just drop the stem of flowers in a vase and with a little stretching here and there they can look oh so beautiful.
My vase and votives all went on a Dollar Tree tray that I couldn’t help but add to finish off my centerpiece. I’m not quite sure if this really needed the tray honestly but I really wanted to add something else to bring everything together and thought that worked out great, for me at least.
Twine seems to end up in almost everything I make! It just seems to work so well with DIY home decor and crafting.
For this next one, I used twine to wrap around a long narrow vase (that I’ve had forever) and then added a mix of beads and decorative tiny crafting sea shells that me and my daughter got from the library, of all places 🙂
I used clear packing tape to keep my twine in place right around the back of the arrangement. I know, sounds kind of strange, but it works 🙂
You can hot glue the beads onto the twine but I really try to avoid using my hot glue whenever I can, hence the packing tape for my twine. I just don’t like waiting for it to heat up and find it kind of messy, so I used these adhesive dots cut down to very small pieces, to attach my beads and sea shells.
Yellow is such a perfect color for the summer time! It’s bright and happy and makes me think of the beautiful summer months.
I found these yellow flowers a few years ago at Walmart and have loved them and used them multiple times. You can see them in action here but for this arrangement I mixed them in with a few white flowers for another simple summer arrangement.
Blue crystal gems that remind me of the beautiful ocean water, yes please! Well, beautiful waters from the Caribbean that is, not the waters I see here in New York, sigh…
This arrangement uses a cylinder vase filled with a string iridescent beads, wooden beads, pretty blue gems, all from the dollar store and a few rocks for the bottom layer.
I topped this with a few faux Dollar Tree flowers to complete my centerpiece.
A few felt pineapples from the Dollar Tree…pink, green and white craft paper for the back of the pineapples, a few simple bows and pink rhinestones, and we have a few very cute dressed up pineapples!
I used these adhesive dots to paste everything together. They are pretty easy to work with. I just cut them down to small pieces depending on the size of what I’m working with and for these pineapples I needed very small pieces because of all the little holes shaping the pineapple.
Now my cute little pineapples are adding some summer cheer to my refrigerator with the help of good old masking tape. (Painters tape would work well too, just don’t confuse it for packing tape, that could ruin the paint). I had considered gluing on some magnets to the back of my coasters but figured I should keep it simple since summer is almost over.
Simple beach paintings dressed up with rhinestones, glitter and a raffia bow then framed with a few white mounts that I’ve had forever.
I used watercolors for the water, sand and blue fishies 🙂 then added a few seashells to the sand with colored pencils. There were a few areas that didn’t turn out the way I wanted so I just “fixed” those spots with some glitter to camouflage the errors.
I’m far from any expert when it comes to painting or drawing but I have to admit it’s so nice and even relaxing when I’m able to take some time to paint. I usually only get to enjoy painting when my daughter wants to sit and paint with me. We actually were painting together when I made these beach paintings.
White chrysanthemums in a recycled jar with, you guessed it, more beautiful rocks and gems. So pretty!
Lastly, a limes to lemon DIY gone wrong.
So I have a bunch of faux limes that I found at Target a few years ago. I’ve used them over and over again but now I decided why not paint a few of them yellow so they look like lemons. I picked up some crafting paint at the dollar store but sadly the paint just wouldn’t give me that intense yellow color that I wanted. About 3-4 coats of paint and I could still see the lime green peeking through.
But you know what, I actually still liked them anyway.
So they’ve been hanging out in my kitchen hutch all summer.
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
Simple Floral Arrangement – A Fern and Purple Statice
Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a very simple floral arrangement that I brought together on Valentine’s Day. It truly is very simple in my opinion. It consists of one green stem and one stem of tiny clustered purple flowers! I’m honestly not sure if I should even call it a floral arrangement but hey, I’m going with that for now I guess 🙂
So my husband bought me and my daughter 2 small bouquets for Valentine’s Day. They were both very pretty, but I’ve realized something…I never really like all of the greenery that many times comes in floral bouquets. Especially the fern. (I disliked it so much that I had to write that in bold, lol) Don’t get me wrong, I love many greens and fillers used in arrangements but not so much the fern.
Does that ever happen to you, someone gives you flowers and you can’t bring yourself to completely loving it?
But anyway, it never quite looks beautiful, for me atleast, and kind of takes away from the rest of the flowers in the bunch. I’m always tempted to just take it right out of the arrangement but then I would feel horrible not doing anything with it or dare I say throw it out! Gasp!! no, no, no.
I love flowers way too much to do that.
Since I don’t always love the entire bouquet I’ve started taking them apart whenever I receive flowers and making a few different arrangements in multiple vases. (Yay for more flowers around the house) And you know what? Now I’m loving the fern.
If you’ve visited my blog before you may already know that I don’t decorate much with real flowers. Sadly I just don’t have the green thumb for them so it’s almost always faux for me. But because of a few special days (Valentine’s and Mother’s day, thank you hubby) I’m lucky enough to enjoy real flowers in my home for at least a couple of weeks.
Simple Floral Arrangement – A Fern and Purple Statice
For my arrangement I’m using one leather leaf fern and a purple statice stem.
I placed the fern into my vase, laying it off to one side.
If you read the first part of this blog post then you know that I wasn’t a fan of ferns, but this arrangement has really changed my mind about that. I’m amazed with its size and beautiful almost triangle shape or even Christmas tree shape to it.
My purple flower, named purple statice, (trust me, I had to search for that name) has small clusters of tiny flowers. They have a pretty tough stem that kept it upright but I went ahead and tucked it in between the little branches of my fern to help it stay upright even more because I thought that it just looked so so pretty and interesting in that position.
And that’s it for this very simple floral arrangement.
I’ve been able to enjoy my flowers for over two weeks now with minimal maintenance at all. I’ve changed the water maybe three times and the beautiful green and purple shades have kept very well.
I hope this motivates you to play around with floral bouquets and see what you can come up with the next time someone gives you flowers too!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
I feel as if Valentine’s Day has become such a cute and fun holiday, not that it’s considered a holiday, but you know… it’s a special day many of us like to celebrate every year. There’s adorable hearts everywhere, pretty shades of pink and red, xoxo messages everywhere, cute stuffed animals. It’s all really cute.
Today I’m sharing a pink floral arrangement great for Valentine’s Day. It probably falls under that fun Valentine’s Day vibe I’m talking about with its red and white gingham ribbon and a bubblegum pink shade of flowers. I brought it together with things I already had on hand and tried to keep it simple as I do with many of my decoration’s.
Ok, let’s get started….
DIY Pink Faux Floral Valentine’s Day Centerpiece
I started with:
an old coffee container, lace burlap, tape and scissors.
First, I removed the label from my container.
I usually remove labels by soaking jars in hot soapy water, or sometimes I use this adhesive remover. It’s a pain using it though because I find that I really have to rub the label adhesive a lot to get it all off so hot soapy water is my usual label removing method.
FYI: If you don’t like fighting with that sticky residue that is sometimes left behind when removing labels, consider placing your arrangement in an area where the sticky side is facing a wall.
That adhesive is always such a pain to remove!
To wrap my ribbon onto the container I decided to use super hold scotch tape. This is because I wanted something with a little stronger hold than regular tape, but you can also use a hot glue gun.
What’s nice about using tape is that it’s easier to remove once you’re done decorating with your arrangement. But a hot glue gun will have a stronger hold.
I used 3 stripes of tape to hold down one end of the ribbon…
and then I ended up “ looping” a couple of pieces of tape for the second end of ribbon and placing them underneath the ribbon so that the tape wouldn’t show.
Basically, creating a little tube with my pieces of tape….hope that makes sense 🙂
To keep my flowers in place I needed to make a tape grid that I created with regular tape (not super hold)
I cut my stripes of tape in half so that they wouldn’t be too wide (you can also use clear floral tape if you prefer)
Normally I don’t bother using a grid, but this time around my flowers just wouldn’t stay in place.
Luckily this really made all the difference.
For my flowers, I used seven pink faux florals.
I started adding in my flowers, in no particular order and continued moving them around until the bouquet looked good.
It wasn’t easy getting the flowers to look the way I was hoping they would (one cohesive pink bunch) but one thing that really helped was to fluff out all of the flower petals.
Doing that made the flowers appear much larger and fill in the gaps better.
My container needed something else aside from the lacey burlap so I ended up collecting a few heart shaped rhinestones and stickers from my craft supply and played around with them, checking which would work best with the burlap.
And here’s what I decided to use…
A couple of pink and red felt stickers right in the center of my old coffee container and then finishing off with red and white gingham ribbon that I love and use all the time.
And just like that my love for coffee and flowers come together. I never thought I would see the day.
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
So I started a little late this year decorating for spring. I really wanted to shift my focus a bit towards Lent but, slowly but surely for the last couple of weeks I’ve started bringing out all of our spring decorations, yay. I couldn’t resist all the cute chicks, bunnies and eggs that show up this time of year anymore….I just couldn’t!
I had picked up a few decorative plush carrots at the dollar store about a month ago that I had on my kitchen table along with a few other things but they were starting to look a little boring. I knew I could put them to better “decorating” use.
I ended up combing them with a few things I already had, including some faux florals that I’ve shared at least a couple of times before here and came up with a very pretty centerpiece for my small kitchen table.
I love giving credit where credit is due! I’m kind of obsessed with watching QVC, and it’s kind of nice because I’ve found a lot of inspiration from watching them. This centerpiece came together with them in mind.
During one of the cooking shows a few weeks ago they had an arrangement of real carrots standing in a vase with baby’s breath right down the middle of the carrots. The carrots still had there green tops attached giving the arrangement a very natural or organic appearance to it. The white baby’s breath were spilling all over the sides and looked a little messy but it was gorgeous! You know, the “effortless” and kind of messy look that just seems to work sometimes!
It was perfection in my opinion 🙂
Easy Kitchen Spring Centerpiece
I worked with a single bunch of faux floral daisies that had a mix of blue, white and yellow shades (you can see the flowers here)…
Just like the centerpiece that inspired this arrangement, I placed my florals down the center of three plush/plaid carrots in a long vase.
A mix of glittery, solid, and printed small and large Easter eggs at the base of my vase.
So pretty!
And that’s it for this one! Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my blog.
(Flowers used are from Walmart and also used in this blog post as well as this one)

Hello friends! Today I’m sharing 3 very easy and simple faux floral centerpieces that you can use any time of the year. They can be placed just about anywhere in your home or even as table decorations for any casual event!
As always, most of the items I’m using are things I already had at home or picked up at the Dollar store. You can find similar things at department and crafting stores such as Target or Michael’s. I also love to reuse things that I’ve recycled, and these simple centerpieces are no exception to that! I used an old liquor bottle, faux flowers that I’ve used many times for previous decorations and even ribbon that came with an inexpensive appetizer plate set I got about a year ago.
Do you like to save pretty odds and ends too? Isn’t it really hard not to sometimes?
3 Easy Faux Floral Centerpieces
For this first centerpiece I used 2 long pink floral spray’s…
Placed those in a tall vase, stretching out the flowers to make them look fuller and then placed a thin layer of pink sequences at the bottom of my vase.
For my second centerpiece I used a single faux floral spray with 3 white flowers…
The stem was super long but instead of cutting it down I just bent it at the end so that I can keep that length for future arrangements.
Then I combined it with a large liquor bottle and finished with a black and white ribbon.
Here I used two old peachy pink flowers that were cut down very short for previous arrangements.
And then combined them with large pearl beads and an old glass soap dispenser 🙂
And that’s it for this one! Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my blog.
I hope you were inspired to bring together a few simple floral decorations for your home or any special space that may need some brightening up!
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
You can find them with drawings of bunnies, baskets, flowers, and all sorts of pretty spring stuff.
And you can even have your kids paint the real thing.
It’s Easter eggs.
I absolutely love using Easter eggs for decorating.
Today I’m sharing a very simple table decoration using these sweet little eggs.
I’m using eggs that I’ve had for a few years now and have used over and over again. One of last years Easter decorations (that I shared here on the blog) is similar to what I’m sharing today, but this time I added a few decorative brown rocks to tone down the bright colors a bit.
I used sparkly white, yellow and lime green Easter eggs and finished off with a navy blue ribbon.
and that’s it.
Simple Easter Eggs Table Decoration
I placed a layer of brown rocks at the bottom of my vase.
Then a layer of glittery white, yellow, and lime green glitter Easter eggs come in.
As you can see in the other photos, I made a bow around my vase using blue ribbon.
I also added some scotch tape underneath the ribbon to hold it in place.
and that’s it!

I usually stick to faux, but today I’m sharing two very simple floral arrangements using real flowers that I put together from our Valentine’s Day flowers that lasted a little over two weeks!
My black thumb has to thank the good Lord for that.
My husband picked up two bouquets for me and my daughter that were full of roses, baby’s breath, chrysanthemums, lilies, and carnations. I fell in love with both but the white and yellow chrysanthemums as well as the pink carnations won me over the most.
I decided to take them apart after about a week so that we can enjoy them all throughout the apartment and thankfully I was able to photograph the two I’m sharing today before they dried out (although they have taken on a whole different beauty after drying!)
Ok, this is a simple one guys, a few photos of three gorgeous flowers that needed….begged for…had to…without a doubt…be photographed and shared with you today.
2 Simple Floral Arrangements
Precious Pink Carnations…
White Chrysanthemums (yep, I had to spell-check that)…
White ribbon, a ginormous mug, and that’s it.
Easy Peasy!
Yellow Chrysanthemums…
A mason jar to give them some water…
and that’s it.
So pretty.
And lastly, a blooper.
There’s my daughter in the background, (if you can spot her).
It’s kind of impossible to take photos when she’s around.
She likes to peek her head into every photo. The temptation to annoy mommy is just unbearable I guess.
But at least we end up with some very funny pictures to laugh at when we’re done! 🙂
That’s it for now. Hope you enjoyed these simple floral arrangements!
