Valentine’s Day Crafts and Home Decor Lookbook
Valentine’s Day Crafts and Home Decor Lookbook
Soon it will be Valentine’s Day, that means it’s the perfect time to talk about love….Crafting love that is!
Ok, ok I know that’s not exactly the love that Valentine’s Day is all about but hey, it’s my blog and I can write about that if I want to…hehe.
I really enjoy the time I spend on crafting. There’s so much to love about it! When I start digging through all of my supplies and start creating things I truly feel as if I turn into a little girl again. My ribbons, flowers, rhinestones, colorful knickknacks and the many other crafty things I have can keep me busy forever. Sadly though, as a mom, I seem to never have enough time for any of that. Boohoo…
My daughter is 7 now and she still needs a lot of my attention. I’m there to help her with meals, getting homework done, tidy up toys, and many other things.
When I finally have some free time to do some crafting I’m oh so happy. But you know what? As much as I love crafting its not always all fun and games. Crafting, decorating, creating, even writing for blog posts takes practice and a lot of effort, for me at least. So I get frustrated and overwhelmed at times. And I don’t know about you (if you are a craft lover also, that is) but when I get going with crafting my mind starts coming up with a million different ideas and it doesn’t always know when to stop. Boohoo to that too 🙂
But I’ve realized that no matter the frustration or lack of time to work on my many projects, it still is all worth it. It makes me smile and gives me a sense of accomplishment when I’m finally done.
If you are a crafter I hope it gives you the same joy that it gives me.
I hope you enjoy this Valentine’s Day lookbook!

Pink adhesive rhinestones, white rocks and marbles decorate a long skinny vase for three sparkly heart picks.
I’ve had these picks for a couple of years now and love them! I found them at Walmart and they’ve really held up with all their glitter.

I’ve kept out a few of my Christmas decorations that I thought worked as winter decor also and thought it would combine nicely here with my vase and cute Valentine’s Day birdie.

White faux roses, red roses and red poppy seeds…

(Both red and white roses are from my local dollar store and the poppy seeds are from Walmart)

This cute little pink arrangement has faux gerber daisies and cherry blossoms mixed up with a pink heart pick matching the flowers perfectly.
The mason jar is filled with pink grass filling, you know, like the stuff we use to fill Easter baskets 😉

I shared a DIY poster board wreath frame a few months ago that you can go back and see here if you’d like. This heart shaped wreath has the same poster board base (minus the packing tape) that I then wrapped with some old pink fabric. I added the packing tape with my original poster board wreath to give it support for the heavier decorations that I was adding to it but this base didn’t need that extra support for the light weight decorations I used.
As for how I attached the fabric (which is actually an old pink shirt) I started by cutting the shirt into long pieces then wrapped them around my base and attached them using these dots You can also use a hot glue gun if you prefer but I try to avoid using a glue gun whenever possible so I gave these a try instead and they worked out great! I should mention that the dots were kind of big for this project so I ended up cutting them into small pieces.

I filled this next vase with a few plastic hearts left over from a set of party favors that I ordered last year for my daughters classmates 🙂 They are not available anymore but any hearts or decorative heart shaped knickknacks would probably do here as well.

This next one is something that I made for my daughters bedroom door. I simply cut out large hearts from construction paper and decorated them with dollies and stickers from Target.
I’m usually not great at cutting out perfectly shaped hearts so I folded the paper in half and then cut out half of a heart so as to get an even sized heart on both sides when I opened my paper.
These two vases came from Crate and Barrel years ago but you can find similar vases on Amazon.
I simply decorated them with stickers and a strand of curling ribbon at the base of my vases.
(I clearly like stickers)
Lastly, I used this beer bottle back in the fall and liked it so much that I ended up keeping it around to re-use. Now I’m using it here with this sparkly red heart pick, another Walmart purchase from a couple of years ago.
The bottle has sisal twine wrapped around it and then layered with lace burlap and pink gingham ribbon.
Sending happy, safe, and healthy vibes your way. May God bless you and your family today and every beautiful day to come!
